TERRITORY: A Territory is a geographic area belonging to or under the jurisdiction of another country. In addition to land, territory includes adjacent waters and associated airspace. Countries defend their territories during wars and provide assistance after natural and man-made disasters.

REGION: An area of land that has common features. A region can be defined by natural or artificial features. Language, government, or religion can define a region, as can forests, wildlife, or climate. Regions, large or small, are the basic units of geography.
